He was born underweight and had jaundice, and was behind on his development. He had a vision condition that required five eye surgeries, and walked with an abnormal gait. His many problems were caused by a genetic gene mutation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doctors later found that he had scoliosis and a misplaced hip, and they were advised to have corrective surgery on his hip. While doctors thought he would be walking again within six months, Brandon was confined to a wheelchair, unable to walk and growing increasingly anxious and depressed.<br>He couldn\u2019t walk for eight years after the hip surgery. It took a toll on his self-esteem, and the teen said it was keeping him from ever getting a girlfriend.<br>In 2019, Brandon\u2019s parents were planning to buy him a new wheelchair \u2014 but Brandon had other plans: he was determined to start walking again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"760\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-16.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-16.png 760w, https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-16-300x270.png 300w, https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-16-600x539.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Taking steps forward<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His parents heard about Special Strong\u2019s special needs gym, and decided to give it a chance. Brandon began working with Daniel, who worked with him to regain his strength and begin walking again.<br>It wasn\u2019t an easy process: Brandon was scared of many of the new exercises. But Daniel pushed him to overcome his doubts and fears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"762\" height=\"739\" src=\"https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-17.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-17.png 762w, https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-17-300x291.png 300w, https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-17-600x582.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 762px) 100vw, 762px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou might not look at him and think he was brave, but I can assure you he was as courageous as anyone who has ever faced a ferocious enemy or even worse, their own demons,\u201d Daniel wrote.<br>The program had the teen move gradually out of his wheelchair, moving on to a walker and arm crutches.<br>In their fifth session together, Brandon had a breakthrough: he started taking steps on his own, without his walker. Daniel watched on and gave him encouragement. It was the first time he had walked on his own in eight years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OzepVsJmEw4\" title=\"Brandon Practicing Walking\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>During that session, Daniel promised that that was only the beginning, and that Brandon would be walking around on his own soon.<br>Walking again<br>A few weeks later, that moment arrived: Daniel told Brandon that this was the day he was going to walk, and the teen replied \u201cI\u2019m ready.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"764\" height=\"764\" src=\"https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-18.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-18.png 764w, https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-18-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-18-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-18-600x600.png 600w, https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-18-100x100.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 764px) 100vw, 764px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The two went outside, and with the camera rolling, Brandon did something incredible: he walked on his own.<br>\u201cYou haven\u2019t done this in eight years, and you\u2019re making it look easy!\u201d Daniel encourages him, saying he walked further than he expected.<br>\u201cAre you proud of me?\u201d Brandon asks. \u201cI\u2019m so proud of you,\u201d Daniel replies.<br>Daniel was proud that Brandon took his first steps, but was even more proud that he overcame his fears.<br>\u201cAfter that, everything changed for Brandon and his entire family,\u201d Daniel wrote. \u201cHe hadn\u2019t just learned to walk. He had conquered his fears. He had conquered the assumptions and self-limiting thoughts. He had conquered himself.\u201d<br>The inspiring video went viral, and many people sent in words of encouragement from Brandon.
