It all started with a hello, and once Chris introduced himself, they became really close. Chris would always help his elderly neighbor with her errands and was there for her whenever she needed any sort of help.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As she turned 89, Norma\u2019s health started to decline and she ended up at the hospital. The only way for her to be able to get back home was to have around the clock assistance. However, as she had no one to take care of her, chances of returning back home were slim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"481\" height=\"464\" src=\"https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-134.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4196\" srcset=\"https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-134.png 481w, https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-134-300x289.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 481px) 100vw, 481px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When Chris learned what was going on, he decided to step in. He was the only person Norma could rely on and he didn\u2019t want to fail her. So, Chris started a GoFundMe and was able to raise $25,000 in just seven hours. A month later, the campaign helped raise $50,000, but as the 24-hour healthcare costs a lot of money, Chris knew he needed to find a long-term solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe only other option was for her to go into a facility,\u201d he told TODAY. \u201cI just couldn\u2019t do that to someone who is like my own grandmother.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"432\" height=\"539\" src=\"https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-135.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-135.png 432w, https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-135-240x300.png 240w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So, Chris invited Norma to move in with him. \u201cI\u2019m so happy I was able to give her this gift of living her last days at home,\u201d Chris said. \u201cI can\u2019t imagine what it\u2019s like to go through the end of your life at a hospital without your friends or pets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"414\" height=\"429\" src=\"https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-136.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-136.png 414w, https:\/\/istori.website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-136-290x300.png 290w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 414px) 100vw, 414px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Unfortunately, Norma died in February 2017, but she spent the final days of her life knowing she was loved and cared for.<br><\/strong>Chris shared the sad news with his followers on his Instagram where he would post photos and videos of him and his \u201cgranny\u201d having fun by watching the news, talking, and eating peanuts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When 31-year-old Chris Salvatore moved into a new apartment back in 2013, the first person he made friends with were 85-year-old Norma Cook and her cat Hermes.
