That Anna Christie Broadway play from 1993 was a serendipitous moment for a Hollywood couple that taught us what true love is. It was the play that brought Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson together.
At the time, Richardson was married to producer Robert Fox, but meeting Neeson made her fall for him with the same passion he fell for her.
<\/strong>Unfortunately, Richardson passed away in 2009, and Neeson never married again. Years after loosing her, the Taken star still grieves for the woman who stole his heart forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time of her death, the couple\u2019s sons, Micheal and Daniel, were 13 and 12 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In March 2009, Neeson was shooting a movie in Toronto, Canada, while Richardson and her son were on a ski vacation in Quebec. Unfortunately, she was involved in an accident that didn\u2019t seem serious at first. She fell and hit her head, but was feeling fine. Neeson recalls his wife calling him on the phone and saying, \u201cOh, darling. I\u2019ve taken a tumble in the snow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sadly, she didn\u2019t know the injury she suffered was way more serious than she could ever realize. Richardson went through lucid interval, a period when someone with a traumatic brain injury seems normal but blood is building in the brain causing pressure which can often be fatal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Richardson ended up in hospital after she initially turned down medical help.
Neeson rushed to Montreal the moment he learned of the severity of his wife\u2019s condition. \u201cI got a taxi to this hospital and uh\u2013 this doctor, he looked all of 17, showed me her X-ray. And you didn\u2019t need to be a rocket scientist to see what was happening. You know? It\u2019s\u2013 it was like a cartoon. You know, the brain\u2019s squashed up against the side of the skull. And it\u2019s\u2013 as the blood tries to get a release. You know?\u201d the actor said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He then spoke of the moment he made a decision to pull the plug. \u201cI went in to her and told her I loved her. Said, \u2018Sweetie, you\u2019re not coming back from this. You\u2019ve banged your head. It\u2019s\u2013 I don\u2019t know if you can hear me, but that\u2019s\u2013 this is what\u2019s gone down. And we\u2019re bringing ya back to New York. All your family and friends will come.\u2019 And that was more or less it. You know? She and I had made a pact. If any of us got into a vegetative state that we\u2019d pull the plug. You know? So when I saw her and saw all these tubes and stuff, that was my immediate thought was, \u2018OK, these tubes have to go. She\u2019s gone.\u2019 But donated three of her organs, so she\u2019s keeping three people alive at the moment. Yeah. Her heart, her kidneys and her liver.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Richardson\u2019s sons are all grown up now and very successful at what they do. They know their mother would have been proud of them.
