The band refused to change the word \u2018higher\u2019 while performing their number 1 hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the band\u2019s drummer, Ed Sullivan was furious, yelling, \u2018You will never do this show again!\u2019 Jim Morrison turned to him and said, \u2018Hey, that\u2019s okay. We just did The Ed Sullivan Show.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018The Doors\u2019 made TV history by tricking the censors and Ed Sullivan into thinking they would alter their lyrics. Instead of singing the requested line, \u2018Girl, there\u2019s nothing I require,\u2019 Morrison sang the actual lyrics, \u2018Girl, we couldn\u2019t get much higher.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was one of the most historic moments on the Sullivan show, and the ramifications changed how censors approached live TV. The band rocks out behind him against a red and yellow background. Jim\u2019s drummer, guitar player, and organ accompany him in true rockstar fashion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018The Doors\u2019 formed in 1965 and released six studio albums in five years. By 1972 they had sold over 4 million albums and close to 8 million singers.
