New dads of little girls often sense, almost instinctively, that they must tread with a gentler touch\u2014protecting, nurturing, and trying their hardest to understand emotions they\u2019ve never experienced themselves. Many fathers will gladly bend over backward to keep their daughters happy, but very<\/em> few are prepared to memorize Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s \u201cSingle Ladies\u201d choreography, wriggle into a skintight leotard, and then perform the whole thing in front of an actual audience and<\/em> allow the evidence to live online forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet somehow, exactly one man stepped up to the challenge\u2014Steve Haddad of Monroe, Michigan. In December 2017, Steve decided dignity was negotiable, but making his daughters laugh was not. So he pushed every doubt aside, teamed up with his two eager girls, and agreed to deliver a holiday performance that would go down in family history. The result? A living-room dance sequence no one present would ever, ever forget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With their game faces on, the trio\u2014and especially Steve\u2014held absolutely nothing back. From the moment the music started, he committed to every hip swivel and hand flick like he\u2019d been preparing for a world tour. Their living room transformed into a makeshift stage, their guests into a stunned audience, and their family\u2019s Christmas tradition into an unexpected viral sensation waiting to happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steve and his wife, Tina, have always gone the extra mile for their kids, so it didn\u2019t surprise anyone that he\u2019d eventually say yes. He\u2019s the kind of dad who would do just about anything if it meant his daughters would break into smiles. According to Tina, the family hosts an annual Christmas Lip Sync battle\u2014and the girls had their hearts set on performing \u201cSingle Ladies.\u201d They weren\u2019t joking about it either. They wanted the routine right<\/em>, and Steve knew he had to give their idea genuine effort if he was going to take their request seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tina told Scary Mommy that the girls practically begged their dad once she floated the Beyonc\u00e9 idea. \u201cThe girls were trying to come up with a brilliant idea to beat the competition, which in this family is tough,\u201d she said. \u201cI threw out the Beyonc\u00e9 \u2018Single Ladies\u2019 video. The girls BEGGED him and because he loves to make us laugh, through much nagging on our part he agreed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three of them practiced the choreography for weeks. But what Tina didn\u2019t expect was what happened on the actual day of the performance. Steve had never rehearsed in a leotard\u2014so when he strutted into the living room in full costume, Tina nearly fell over. She had no idea<\/em> he was going to commit at that level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then the performance began. The results were everything a family could hope for: hilarious, joyful, slightly ridiculous, and absolutely unforgettable. The entire routine was filmed and uploaded to Tina\u2019s Facebook page, where Steve\u2014pouring himself into that leotard\u2014hit almost every move with impressive dedication. Even with laughter erupting behind the camera, he stayed focused, determined not to fall behind his daughters. He missed a beat or two, sure, but he never stopped trying. By the end, it was obvious how far he was willing to go to make his girls\u2019 night magical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAwesome!!! I have to show my husband and let him know he needs to step up his game!!!\u201d one woman commented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another joked, \u201cPlease add a disclaimer next time\u2014coffee just shot out my nose and I think I may have peed a little. HILARIOUS!!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tina later admitted to Scary Mommy that she never expected the overwhelming public response. \u201cI\u2019ve NEVER posted videos or photos of my kids public,\u201d she said. \u201cI only did it so the family could share it with their friends. I\u2019m overwhelmed. I\u2019ve received so many positive messages from people who\u2019ve had hard knocks and said thank you for the two minutes of laughter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And for anyone wondering: yes\u2014Steve and his daughters won<\/em> that year\u2019s Lip Sync battle. Frankly, how could they not?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
