‘Voice’ Judges Spin Around For Senior’s 1961 Etta James Hit

As a 65-year-old woman, Rita Roeland had given up on her hopes of a singing career years earlier, but her daughter convinced her to sign up to audition for the show a few months ago.

As part of her audition for The Voice van Vlaanderen, Rita chose to sing ‘At Last’ by Etta James. In one of the most compelling performances ever seen on The Voice Senior, this star hailing from Herzele, Belgium wowed all four coaches with one of the strongest performances.

Rita took a little while to ease up and let her voice flow uninhibited, but once she began to take personal ownership of the stage, her passion produced vocal talent that compelled all the judges to take notice of what she was doing.

As luck would have it, Rita ended up choosing Team Lotti, since Helmut Lotti was the first to make a decision for Team Lotti, and the other two judges followed in near-unison.

The song that Rita chose has been covered by greats such as Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin and Beyonce. She performs the timeless classic song ‘At Last’ at the The Voice Senior audition and what is surprising about her performance is that Rita Roeland has a voice and range that keep up with the greats, rewarding the listener with effortless harmony that could not sound any more beautiful.
