An Australian man relaxing in his backyard in a chair did not notice a deadly Eastern brown snake slithering towards him at an alarming speed. Dogs are a man’s best friend, they keep you company and protect you from harm in times of need.
It was so close to him, he could have been bitten, his dog caught sight of the snake and followed it’s movements. The man was on his phone, and did not even notice the presence of the venomous snake until it was right under his chair.
The dog rushed to the man’s side once the snake was underneath his chair, and his presence alerted the man, who quickly jumped away from it. According to Australian Geographic, the Eastern brown snake is the second most venomous terrestrial snake in the world. He pushed his chair away and immediately brought his dog back into the house.
The eastern brown snake is fast-moving, aggressive, and is known for its bad temper. It contributes to more snake deaths in Australia than any other group of snakes every year.
Tests on mice have shown their venom to be the second most toxic of all land snakes in the world, and they thrive in populated areas, particularly on farms in rural areas with mice. In some cases, victims may collapse within minutes of being bitten, because its venom causes progressive paralysis and prevents blood clotting.”
Considering what might have happened if the dog hadn’t noticed the snake or wasn’t with the man, it’s frightening to think of what might have happened. However, dogs are amazing senses, and this dog is a true hero because of his senses.
