12-year-old Voice Kids UK singer Courtney wows with a Tina Turner cover in first Blind Audition

There was a surprise early on in The Voice Kids when shy 12-year-old Courtney Hartlepool blew the coaches away with a performance of Ike and Tina Turner’s Nutbush City Limits when the coaches were not expecting it.

As she approached the stage of The Voice Kids UK, the young singer seemed nervous as she stepped out on stage, but as her father had suggested, as the band began playing the opening bars of her audition track, she suddenly came alive. There were a lot of surprises in the jury’s eyes when they learned that she learned the dance from YouTube, not only because she had a beautiful voice, but also because she moved smoothly and professionally.

There will be no doubt in their minds that this performance is going to stick in their heads for a long time to come, that every time she takes the stage, you can see a better version of her.

During her performance of Turner’s 1973 song, Courtney made a spectacular entrance, whirling across the stage with seemingly boundless energy, prompting coaches Danny Jones and Pixie Lott to encourage her on.

The shy pre-teen girl stunned the judges and audience with her all-out performance.
