As the video begins, we can see the two main stars of this video: an older woman and a young girl. The older woman—also known as “bisnonna”—is the little girl’s grandmother.
They are having a lively conversation, but if you only understand English, you won’t be able to follow along. This talk involves a lot of hand motions, which is relatively common for Sicilians.
The older woman begins by clapping her hands and then starts moving her arms. The little girl mimics her not long after, clapping away while speaking in gibberish.
Her other movements include holding out her hands, shaking them back and forth in an “obeying” motion, and gesturing towards her head. The child seems to be paying close attention.
There are a few motions she doesn’t mimic exactly, but she mimics most of them, which is what makes this video so charming. The back and forth between these two is very amusing to watch.
Our curiosity was piqued as to what the grandmother was actually saying. To find out if anyone knew, we checked the comment section. It turns out they did!
Apparently, “Grandpa doesn’t listen,” which is what this entire conversation was about. True, the little girl probably doesn’t understand what’s going on. The video is certainly much more entertaining when you know it’s about Grandpa!
