Parrots are among the most talented birds you’ll ever come across, and Tico the parrot is no exception. Recently, he was caught on camera performing a stunning rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.”
Tico’s performance was truly impressive. As he sang, he was accompanied by his owner, Frank Maglio, and their friend Lisa Rott, both of whom played guitar and occasionally joined in on vocals.
Tico showcased a distinctive and melodic voice that set him apart. When he wasn’t singing, his whistling was remarkably clear—better than most humans could manage. What made him even more special was his ability to sense when to start or stop singing, something not often seen in parrots.
During the instrumental sections, Tico would walk around the table or scratch behind his ears, clearly enjoying himself in the company of Frank and Lisa.
Thanks to parrots’ unique anatomy—they have two vocal organs—Tico was able to sing in multiple pitches, something humans aren’t capable of. At times, he’d switch from a high pitch to a drastically lower one, adding variety to his performance.
It was obvious that Tico had plenty of practice. He had previously sung many songs with Frank, and he seemed to genuinely enjoy performing all kinds of music.
Lisa also appeared to enjoy the performance. The way Tico moved his head while singing was nothing short of entertaining—he behaved like a true rock star, completely in sync with the music and seemingly in control of the performance.
