A Moving Performance of “Run” That Left the Britain’s Got Talent Judges Speechless

Stacey grew up in Birstall, West Yorkshire. Her childhood wasn’t easy. She had a speech impediment and a stutter, and kids at school mocked the way she spoke. She later recalled classmates imitating her speech, and it chipped away at her confidence in a way that stayed with her for years.

But singing was different. Speaking could be hard. Singing gave her another way to express what she couldn’t say out loud.

During the COVID lockdown, she started watching adult speech-therapy exercises on YouTube and practising them regularly. She worked those exercises into her singing too. It wasn’t a quick fix โ€” she’s said her difficulties can return if she stops practising โ€” but it was progress. Real, hard-earned progress.

Before the show, she worked in a supermarket cooking chickens. She was also a mum to her daughter Aaralyn, who was around ten when Stacey auditioned. Her live singing experience was minimal โ€” a small pub event, not much else. She admitted she was shy and worried about what people would think.

But she decided it was time to stop making excuses.

The Audition

Stacey walked onto the stage visibly nervous, with her daughter, mother, and a friend there to support her. The panel was Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli, with KSI as a guest judge.

She introduced herself as a supermarket worker who cooked chickens for a living. Humble, sure. But then she opened her mouth.

She chose “Run” โ€” the Snow Patrol song made famous again by Leona Lewis. Ambitious. Emotional. Not much room to hide. And from the first note, the room changed.

Her voice filled the space. The nervous woman who’d just introduced herself was gone, replaced by someone delivering a genuinely powerful, controlled performance. She built the song gradually, pulling the audience into it.

By the end, the crowd was chanting for the Golden Buzzer. KSI stood up and pressed it. Golden confetti rained down. Stacey’s family celebrated, the audience erupted, and she was overcome with emotion as KSI came up to congratulate her.

Simon told her she lacked confidence โ€” and that she really shouldn’t, because she was genuinely good. KSI later said he was in awe and pressed the buzzer because she’d absolutely smashed it.

The Golden Buzzer sent her straight to the live semifinals. Her audition spread online, racking up millions of views.

The Semifinal and the Final

For the semifinal, she chose “Anyone” by Demi Lovato. Bigger audience, higher expectations โ€” and she’d been having trouble with her voice, taking antibiotics after seeing a doctor. She was worried about whether she could perform properly, but she wanted to give her best for her daughter.

She won the public vote and secured her place in the grand final.

In the final, on May 31, 2025, she sang “Angels” by Robbie Williams. Amanda Holden praised hearing a woman’s interpretation of the song, and Bruno Tonioli liked the direction of her performance. Stacey finished eleventh. Magician Harry Moulding won.

She didn’t take home the trophy. But reaching the final, after everything, was its own kind of victory.

Life After the Show

Stacey has continued building a music career. She’s promoted as a Britain’s Got Talent finalist and Golden Buzzer performer, singing at live events with a repertoire that includes “The Power of Love,” “Hallelujah,” and “My Immortal.”

She also wanted to release her own version of “Run” after thousands of viewers asked for it. Producing it meant costs for a backing track, studio time, mixing, mastering, and copyright arrangements. She set a GoFundMe target of ยฃ1,300 โ€” and her page showed ยฃ1,541 raised from 80 donations, exceeding the goal.

Away from the cameras, life has been good too. In 2025, she got engaged to Richard, a man she’d known since she was seventeen. They’d been involved with other people back then, later reconnected when both were single, and he proposed on his birthday in front of his family. They’re planning a 2027 wedding.

In early 2026, she announced she was expecting a baby โ€” her rainbow baby โ€” and later shared that it was a boy, due in August 2026.

Why Her Story Sticks With People

Stacey never pretended to have it all figured out. She was a working mum who’d been bullied, struggled with confidence, and spent years working on her speech. She wasn’t a polished professional. She was someone who loved singing but kept finding reasons to hold back.

Then she made one decision: to try.

That decision took her from a supermarket in Yorkshire to the grand final. Her story is a reminder that talent shows up in unexpected places, and that the hard things we go through don’t have to define where we end up.

Watch the Golden Buzzer Moment

Some performances don’t need a big production. Just a microphone, a beautiful song, and someone brave enough to share their voice.

Go watch Stacey’s performance of “Run” again โ€” and the moment KSI pressed that Golden Buzzer. Turn it up, sit back, and enjoy it. And when the golden confetti starts falling and you catch yourself smiling, you’ll understand why so many people fell in love with her story.
