17-Year-Old Putri Ariani Leaves America’s Got Talent Judges Speechless With Her Powerful Voice

“I have never heard a voice like hers before. She is an absolute angel.”

When 17-year-old Putri Ariani walked onto the America’s Got Talent stage, the judges knew they were about to meet a talented young singer. But nobody expected the emotional and unforgettable performance that followed.

Putri is a gifted singer and songwriter from Indonesia who is blind, but she has never allowed her disability to stop her from chasing her dreams.

“My biggest challenge is people look at me just as a blind person, not as a musician,” Putri explained. “But when I’m singing, I feel like a superstar.”

This was Putri’s first trip to America, and she arrived with an incredibly ambitious dream. She told the judges that she wanted to become the biggest diva in the world, like Whitney Houston, and one day win a Grammy Award.

“I hope I can win America’s Got Talent so I can reach my dream,” she said.

Putri was born prematurely in December 2005 in Indonesia after complications during her mother’s pregnancy. She was diagnosed as blind when she was only three months old. Despite the challenges she faced growing up, music became a major part of her life, and she developed her talent as a singer and pianist.

For her audition, Putri sat at the piano and performed her original song, “Loneliness.” From the first notes, it became clear that she was much more than a young singer with a big dream.

Her voice was powerful, controlled, and full of emotion. She delivered the song with a maturity that amazed the judges, while her piano playing added another deeply personal element to the performance.

The audience quickly rose to their feet, cheering loudly as Putri finished.

But Simon Cowell wasn’t ready for the audition to end.

Simon stood up from his chair and walked onto the stage to meet Putri. He was so impressed by her voice that he asked her to perform another song.

Putri then sang “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word,” the classic written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. She dedicated the song to Simon, making the unexpected moment even more special.

Once again, Putri delivered a stunning performance, and the audience erupted in applause.

“My God,” Simon said afterward, clearly amazed by what he had just heard.

The judges were full of praise. Sofia Vergara called Putri an angel and said everyone was mesmerized by her voice. Howie Mandel told her that he believed she was a superstar, while Heidi Klum praised how beautiful her performance sounded.

Simon was equally impressed.

“You’re 17. You write songs. You’ve got an amazing distinctive voice. And I mean really, really good,” he told her.

Putri then shared another dream with the judges: she wanted to study at Juilliard in New York, one of the world’s most prestigious performing arts schools.

That was the moment Simon decided he had heard enough.

He walked over and hit the Golden Buzzer, sending Putri directly to the live shows.

The stage filled with golden confetti as Putri celebrated the incredible moment with her family. Simon then returned to the stage to congratulate her personally.

“You are, I think, one of the best singers we’ve ever had on our show,” he told her.

Putri’s audition quickly became one of the most talked-about performances of the season. More than just an impressive singing audition, it was a powerful introduction to a young artist who had already overcome major challenges and was determined to build a future through music.

Her story is a reminder that talent, ambition, and determination can shine far beyond the obstacles someone faces.

And after hearing Putri sing, it was easy to understand why the judges believed her dream of becoming a major international star could really come true.
