The judges expected another classical piano performance. An Italian musician quietly walked onto the America’s Got Talent stage, introduced himself as a pianist, and took his seat at the keyboard. Even Simon Cowell looked unsure about what was coming next.
For a few moments, everything seemed exactly as expected. Patrizio Ratto began playing Beethoven’s “Für Elise” with impressive skill, giving no hint that the audition was about to take a completely unexpected turn.
Then the music stopped.
Patrizio suddenly jumped away from the piano and launched into an astonishing robotic dance routine, combining popping, animation, mime, body isolations, and incredible flexibility. Within seconds, the audience went from politely listening to cheering in amazement as the quiet pianist transformed into one of the most original performers of the season.
Born on March 27, 1990, in Tarquinia, Italy, Patrizio discovered music at an early age after his mother enrolled him in piano lessons when he was around eight years old. As a teenager, he also fell in love with hip-hop dance, spending years learning popping, robotic movement, and theatrical performance. Rather than choosing between the two passions, he created a style that blends classical piano with modern dance and visual storytelling.
Before appearing on America’s Got Talent in 2019, Patrizio had already built a successful career across Europe. He appeared on television shows including Amici di Maria De Filippi, Tu Si Que Vales, Romania’s Got Talent, and later Spain’s Got Talent: All Stars. He also performed alongside well-known artists such as Justin Bieber, Giorgia, Elisa, Francesco Gabbani, Raffaella Carrà, and Achille Lauro.
His AGT audition quickly became one of the season’s most memorable performances. The judges praised not only his piano skills but also the creativity of the unexpected twist, giving him four yes votes and sending him through to the Judge Cuts round. Millions of viewers later watched the performance online, with many calling it one of the biggest surprises in the show’s history.
Patrizio didn’t stop there. He later founded the performance group Ping Pong Pang, combining dance, comedy, illusion, and synchronized choreography into spectacular stage productions. The group went on to earn a Golden Buzzer on Italia’s Got Talent and reached the final of Britain’s Got Talent 2025, introducing his unique style to audiences around the world.
