9-Year-Old Journeyy Stuns America’s Got Talent Judges With Original Song “Paradise”

Some young singers impress with their voices, while others stand out because they create their own music. Journeyy Belton did both. When the 9-year-old appeared on America’s Got Talent in 2024, he performed an original song called “Paradise,” leaving the audience and judges amazed. By the end of his audition, all four judges were on their feet, and Simon Cowell described him as someone with a “God-given talent.”

A Self-Taught Young Musician

Journeyy Belton was born on October 27, 2014, in Jersey City, New Jersey. He discovered his love for music at an early age and, during the COVID-19 pandemic, taught himself to play the piano, guitar, and ukulele.

In 2023, he began posting videos of himself singing covers and performing original songs on social media. His soulful voice quickly attracted thousands of viewers, with his cover of “Oceans” becoming one of his best-known performances.

Today, Journeyy writes his own songs, accompanies himself on the piano, and dreams of becoming a professional singer-songwriter.

An Unforgettable AGT Audition

For his America’s Got Talent audition, Journeyy chose to perform “Paradise,” a song he wrote himself.

Seated at the piano, he delivered an emotional performance that showcased not only his voice but also his songwriting talent. The lyrics created a dreamlike world filled with colorful and imaginative images, revealing creativity far beyond his years.

After the performance, Simon Cowell shared that a friend had previously sent him one of Journeyy’s online videos and encouraged him to bring the young musician onto the show. When Simon contacted the producers, he discovered they had already found Journeyy through social media.

High Praise From Every Judge

The judges were unanimous in their praise.

Simon Cowell said he loves artists who perform their own material because it reveals who they truly are. He called Journeyy someone with a God-given talent and predicted a bright future.

Heidi Klum praised his beautiful voice and said his parents must be incredibly proud.

Sofía Vergara called him a superstar and said she loved both his music and personality.

Howie Mandel admired his confidence, voice, and stage presence, especially at such a young age.

Journeyy received a standing ovation and four Yes votes, sending him to the next round.

A Performance That Reached Millions

Following his audition, Journeyy’s performance quickly spread online, introducing millions of viewers to his music. Fans praised his original songwriting, emotional voice, and impressive musicianship, with many finding it hard to believe someone so young could write and perform a song like “Paradise.”

His Quarterfinal Performance

Journeyy later returned to the AGT stage with a piano performance of Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds.” Once again, he earned a standing ovation from the judges and audience.

Although he finished among the Top 5 performers in his quarterfinal, he did not receive enough public votes to reach the semifinals. Even so, his performances earned widespread praise and introduced him to an even larger audience.

A Bright Future Ahead

Although he is still very young, Journeyy has already established himself as one of America’s most promising young musicians. As a self-taught singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, he has impressed both audiences and industry professionals with his originality and musical ability.

His memorable America’s Got Talent journey proved that his talent extends far beyond singing. With his heartfelt songwriting, piano skills, and natural stage presence, Journeyy has already built a strong foundation for what many believe will be a successful career in music.

Let’s enjoy this unforgettable moment and experience the performance that amazed millions of viewers around the world.
