How a Pandemic Hobby Sparked a Unique Talent Show Journey

A singer and a comedian share the stage, bringing music and laughter together. Two different talents, one goal: to entertain and connect with the audience.

Ana-Maria Mărgean is a young Romanian entertainer whose remarkable journey from local competitions to international stages is a story of talent, determination, and creative passion. Gaining nationwide attention as the winner of Românii au talent in 2021, Ana-Maria is best known for her rare combination of ventriloquism and singing, a blend that makes her stand out among young artists not only in Romania but around the world.

Early Life and Musical Background

Born in 2009 in the suburb of Clinceni, just outside Bucharest, Ana-Maria grew up in a close-knit family environment. Despite living in modest conditions with her parents and siblings in a small apartment, her childhood was filled with music. From a very young age, Ana-Maria was drawn to singing and playing the piano, showing a natural inclination toward performance. Her parents encouraged her passion, enrolling her in music lessons and supporting her participation in over 100 music competitions across Romania, where she consistently impressed judges and audiences alike.

Intrigued by the art form’s mix of humor, storytelling, and vocal skill, Ana-Maria soon became obsessed with learning it herself. For her 11th birthday, her parents gifted her a puppet, which she named Lizzie. This puppet became both her creative partner and a symbol of her new artistic ambitions.

This not only required masterful ventriloquism — speaking and singing without moving her lips — but also demanded strong musicality and stage presence.

Her performance stunned the judges, and Andra, one of the show’s most beloved judges,
